Identity Politics - The Rise of Black Socialist Women
The combay river collective is based off of harriet tumman and what she does during the war when she helps to rescue and free about seven 800 enslaved people. It's the only time in which you have a black woman not only serving in the civil war, but leading men into battle. I love that historical background, ecause it gets fraid of what they're doing. We should call attention to one other intersecting identity here, which was that this is not just black socialist women, but it's black socialist lesbian women. And so sexuality s a roll here too. i think it plays into that critique of you can't just wait for a man to come along and defend you
