Academics face not just harassment or abuse, but disciplinary proceedings if they fall foul of student opinion and the sentiment of administrators. We we have somehow reverted to a quasi religious environment in which there are certain beliefs you cannot hold. 27 % of professors think that social justice should take precedence over academic freedom. In the university of california, you can't even apply for a position if you're not willing to sign a declaration of your commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
