The Meaning of a Text
Can an algorithm go even if it feels down in the morning? I mean, does it have any conception of sleep or the morning? And does it dream of electric sheep while it's dreaming? The real thing that might be important here is what we do with that. It can produce the external behavior, but there's nothing behind it. This goes back to Roland Barth's death of the author essay. We think of literature as having meaning in the wanting to say of the author, but the author is dead.
