The Origins of the Sufi Mystics of the 13th Century

The great western Sufi mystics of the 13th century can represent the culmination of that culture. They take both the ideas and practices of Eastern Sufism and marry it with native speculative mystical traditions, as well as other philosophical movements. One central idea that is quite unique to this particular group of mystics is an emphasis on the concept of tak'e'ok - realization or verification. The highest form in some way are the verifiers who reach the highest station, seeing reality for what it truly is, which is the oneness of God.
