The Importance of Skepticism
For Montane, the only worthwhile skepticism is the one that keeps you walking. It seems very unlikely that there's just one universe. God after all could make endless universes. This is just one among many and it happens to be the one that we're in. And he says, look where we are in the universe. We're at the shitty end. That's how he calls it. He says to be human is to be mired in shit. The only place that a train of thought can actually end is death. Otherwise, it should never stand still.
