Charlie: I think it's easy when there are a number of male gendered metaphors used for God to get this idea that God is male. Brittany: We're missing something if we only focus on those male images. Charlie: If you're looking for metaphors to portray a sovereign God, it makes sense that you look for male images of king or husband in that culture. But God has compassion, like the compassion of a mother and we have to see that side too.
