Are You Sure? The Unconscious Origins of Certitude

The brain can't just up date its predictions and move on. This is why grieving takes so long, and why grief continues to strike us many months and years after the person is gone. One of the things that i think has really changed is our understanding that it is whole networks, not single areas, that are activated whenever we're doing any sort of mental function. A recent studyis still under review, that was done by my graduate student, saransili. She looked at what areas of the brain were connected in these different networks when people were just resting in the scanner.
