Herbert Mark Cusatels wrote in 1969 that black militants have a systematic linguistic rebellion. He says the blacks take over some of the most sublime and sublimated concepts of western civilization, de-sublimate them, and redefine them. Al Fabin: The soul is black, violent, or geastic. It is no longer in Beethoven, Schubert, but in the blues, in jazz, in rock and roll, in soul food.
