Rajiv Gandhi's Visit to China
Narasimha Sumerra was a man of very deep political experience. He didn't go to the meeting with Deng Xiaoping, that's true,. But he did study China more closely and I remember him telling me at some stage: "The Chinese think in terms of centuries and we have to think like that" So yes, this reform fever had begun, I think, to certainly it had gripped the Chinese.
