The Progress of the French Revolution

France was a peasant society at that point. It did not have means of production adequate to be socialized. What they were fighting for had a remnant of what had been fought over. The drive towards social equality had broken against the lack of technological capacity to make that change. But if you get a busser all revolution instead, you get a compensatory war with Austria instead. That was to make up for an unfinished social revolution. And then all the other countries in Europe come into being in recognition of this new competitive framework in Italy and Germany are formed out of the need to compete.
