Daniel Simons and Christopher Shabri's invisible gorilla experiment is one of the first things that truly went viral on YouTube. Most people fail to recall seeing a person wearing a gorilla suit walking very obviously on screen then through the group and then off screen, which is what happens in the video. It's an example of something called inattentional blindness.
