The story pits a marginalized person against a multitude of Jesus followers. And it's important to remember that the multitude in the story are his followers, right? Yeah. We're the multitude. Of course, we're not the hero in this story. That's probably why Jesus often used marginalized people to teach the lessons that he was teaching teaching.
