The music was performed by two song writers, tommy boyce and bobby hart. Don kirshner, the head of screen gems music, had initially suggested roger atkins as the main song writer for the monkeys. There seems to have been a turf war between dunkersner,. leicester sill, mentoteliben stoller, dwain eddy and phil spectr who were all based on the west coast.
