The Wife Does Not Have Authority Over Her Own Body but Yields It to Her Husband

First century Rome, Paul saying that is going to get a lot of amends from the men. That was normal. The wife's body belongs to the husband. She doesn't have authority over it. It belongs to her husband. No one had ever really said that before. But then Paul says in the same way the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. And so if you were the wife of that man or the slave of that man, or indeed if you were another man who did not have that kind of social power, you had no right to consent.
