Environmental defenders are people who take peaceful action to protect and or the deco system on which the livelihoods depend. Many of these people, in practice, come from ruw communities. And they've got to fight back against people who want to use the landin in more commercially oriente ways. For them it's really about a bigg struggle and a struggle for a way of life, a struggle for their communities. They can be like lawyers working for probono, very often to support these communities.
