The U.S. military deployed thousands of air and ground robots overseas to meet urgent needs in those conflicts. The vast majority of systems that the defense department fielded were much smaller, cheaper handheld systems. One of the main motivations was how can we find ways to use this technology to save lives or create some more distance from these threats.
