Mark McCaffery: I feel like there's some relation certainly between entertainment and playfulness, but I feel like they're also somewhat separable. You can have a game where it's sort of a mindless game where you just planning to get really good at it, like a competitive game and a flip side. He says that as a designer, playing is often a very important part of the understanding part of design. "I think in many ways it is straight up play, but it is sort of a semi open ended close ended play," he says.
