Adam Buxton, comedian, writer and host of the Adam Buxton Podcast. I first met John in the late 90s when myself and Joe Cornish made our DIY comedy TV show, The Adam and Joe Show, out of the same Brixton-based production company that also produced a late night discussion program hosted by John called For the Love Of, in which he and his guests explored topics that were then considered Fringe, Ghosts, Cryptozoology and Conspiracies about the moon landings and the death of Princess Diana to name a couple.

And for a while John became one

of those people in the media who reported from the fringes of culture, spending time with people who held beliefs, most of us would consider esoteric. And his approach was

often quirky. In the mid 2000s

his radio foreshow, John Ronson On, featured serious stories alongside funny observations about the weirdness of everyday life. I loved it. That was the first sort of John Ronson expedition that I really got with. Because to be honest with you, do you... I wasn't like for the love of... I wasn't that fussed about conspiracy theories. I thought, well they're crazy.

You were still quite told towards me back then. Now I know why. No, that's not true. By the way, my favourite episode of For the Love Of was about time travel. Somebody bought a time machine, but he refused to plug it in. But everyone else around the tape was going, please. Why? Because it used too many batteries or something. Yeah, I think it would be too powerful. Too amazing. Very cool.
Speaker 2
Okay.
