The Difference Between a Brown Bear and a Bluffing Bear
A predatory bear is a more quiet kind of circling around and sort of checking you out. The other difference between the two is the length of their claws. If the bear actually reaches you and it's not a bluff and they are in fact aiming to hurt you if the ears will be flat, then you fight back. You do what you can to convince it that you're more of a threat than you obviously are. It's almost never a case of a bear deciding I'm going to stalk and kill that human.
