The Complexity of the Honeybees Foraging Task

Honeybees have this incredible navigational challenge that the bees have to solve. We know they sometimes can travel up to 12 kilometers gathering nectar and pollen from these hyper variable cryptic flower sources all of which vary in how much reward they're offering. Their nest is going to be a tiny cryptic hive entrant that's probably somewhere up a tree. One tree in a forest among thousands of trees that all look and smell the same. And then from that point they will fly off. The cognition evolved I think to address this incredibly complex foraging task that they do.
