The Evolution of Life on Mars

The conditions on Mars about four and a half billion years ago strongly resembled those on the Earth when life evolved here. Conditions after about 800 million years on Mars turned pretty harsh. So to me, chances are life went extinct and it didn't get very exciting before it went extinct. This isn't like an exciting type of fossil for most people, but for a geologist, it means everything.
