The Tension in the Philosophy of Quantum Mechanics

Much of the philosophy of quantum mechanics stems from a sort of tension, I guess, between the formalism of quantum mechanics and how we interpret it. David Jay: Is this at all analogous to some of the central debates in the philosophy of mathematics where everyone agrees about the math itself? But there is little agreement, though, I mean, Tim might disagree with me here, on just how we should conceive of the world in order that we can take the statements of mathematics to be true. If you have a disagreement about what there is in the physical world, that is a disagreement about physics.
