In the sixties and seventies, Roy Cone started defending wealthy people charged with cocaine possession. A big part of his clientele were wealthy men who wanted to divorce their wives without losing any of their money. He also started representing the archdiocese of New York, AKA the Catholic Church. So in New York, the mafia and the Catholic Church had the same lawyer and it was Roy Cone.
