The Importance of Women on Stellai
Most Stellai commemorated the deaths of men, but women young boys and girls were depicted on their tombstones as well. These Stellai were usually decorated with two or more figures, and sometimes included seated figures. In general, Stellai can be seen as a retrospective funerary art that typically articulates a society's ideals of social living through their depiction of a domestic sphere.
