The Physics of Flying

Birds use the same physics as aircraft, but in a much more complicated way. Their wings are being used both as as wings to provide a lift and forward thrust. They have to be performing a kind of complicated figure of ap movement when they do their figure eight manoeuvres. It is very bad for flying fast, but iis just exactly what you want when you're flying slow and in danger of stalling.
