Niva was founded by two former Google execs who had worked on search ads. The company is now offering free private search for people in the U.S. John Defterios: "I don't think of Niva as sort of directly competing with Google" He says it's about giving an alternate take on a really interesting problem and basically betting that there are sufficient number of people that care enough to actually pay us for a service in return.
