Former chairman of the chiefs of staff mike mullin says we should have withdrawn from Afghanistan ten years ago. Mullin: 'I don't think it was possible for us to just abruptly walk away right after we killed o ben laden' He also said that sometimes overly optimistic statements come from this military culture which views every job as achievable. But i do think there is this conversation that's been happening a lot about what are often overly rosy or optimistic statements from senior pentagon leadership bout afghanis curity forces, virst the reality experienced by people on the ground.
