inflammation is the turning on of processes within a cell that you would typically think of as being related to immunity. These immune pathways are found in every cell, but muscle isn't a prototypical immune cell and yet it has all the same pathways. If immune proteins are elevated, what are called inflammatory cytokines, if these mediators, these markers are moving through the blood, it will activate these immune pathways in the muscle,. which will cause the muscle to become insulin resistant.
