Competition and Competition Shaped Evolution and Ecology, Right?
The idea that forests are structured by competition came out of evolutionary theory. Foresters were focused on competition for light, so they thought trees would compete with each other to get more sunlight. But this wasn't the case and even as we investigate how trees interactand relate to one another, I think collaboration and competition are also part of a narrow way of seeing how these trees interact.
