The Transition to Farming in West Skagit Valley
The property does flood, which is another one of the reasons that previously we didn't really want to look at it because you know flooding and winter farming kind of a challenge. We're just having to realize that occasional flooding might be in our future and I think how we're managing that is trying to have more diverse crops as far as they are starting to do. The area has a system of of dikes and drainage ditches that we are about a half a mile before they start. So from a management like spring growing fall growing the drainage here is good but yeah we got to watch out for those big events.
