Today we are talking about the surveillance state and how a coalition of activists in chicago is seeking to interrupt its work. The shot spotter system now covers a hundred and 17 square miles across 12 police districts, mostly on the city's south and west sides. It was largely paid for with funds acquired through war on drugs. In the spring of 20 21, 13 year old adam toledo was gunned down by a police officer in chChicago's little village neighborhood. There were, predictably, no charges filed against the officer who shot atam.
