What Got You Interested in Avant-Garde?

In the 60s there was a kind of crossover between what the post-war avant-garde were doing and the sort of broadly popular rock acts. The Beatles on the White Album famously included a track called Revolution IX, which is a sound collage. And they did that because John Lennon and Paul McCartney were interested in Stalkaus and things like this. That's an extraordinary cultural moment.
