The Rise of the Individual Artist
The artist is projecting a certain individuality, and you see this throughout the art of the period. That's one trend that is happening. Of course the second is again, you know, a trend that again is inspired by the ancients, but it's scientists. You have a Copernico revolution with Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler. And Francis Bacon is saying, science should be used for practical purposes. Science should be used to improve human life. Science can be used for technology.
