The Importance of Being Positive in Leadership

A lot has been written about the interaction between senior military leadership and policy makers. i think that how that relationship works is pretty fundamental to the lessons that we learn from the campaigns of the first 20 years of this century. And behind closed doors, i am very clear with policy makers about what we can and cannot achieve. In public, though, i'm not necessary ging to reveal my advice, because i don't think that's my constitutional position. Rather, i think i am obvious, again, to try and be positive when it was appropriate to be positive. But of course, you have to be realistic, and you have o bee pragmatic.
