The Problem of Coherence
If there's no coherent pattern and purpose, then you and i pretty insignificant. What's the point of life at all? And this is the problem that the author of ecclesiastes, who simply referred to, refers to himself as the teacher, is wrestling with. He is wrestling with the problem of coherence. Most of the ancient world thought all the world must operate like this, sowing and reaping.
