Said's Orientalism Is Not a Real Orient
"He's not pointing to a real Orient. He's engaging with this very construction by Orientalists, but refuses to in a kind of suspicious way to actually delineate what these characteristics are that he is going after," she says. "I'm hard on Said because I like what he's doing ... But it is also one that falls into serious confusion when we begin to consider other Orientalist strains of thought."
