The investigation officially began on January 4, 2022 when police responded to a request for a welfare check for Tasha Hate. It was requested by her family who were concerned because they hadn't heard from Tasha or her mother, 78-year-old Gail Earl. All attempts to contact the family went unanswered and the doors remained locked and the windows shut. A friend that Tasha walked with daily had confided that Michael was obsessed with keeping up appearances socially, personally and professionally.
