Moving Averages

There's a noble purpose in using moving averages. But if the system has changed and suddenly become significantly better or significantly worse, the moving average throws a lag into our ability to detect that. We could also try to avoid being misled by a very noisy metric by using a process behaviorture. So i think there might be special cases where a moving average would be less dis functional but that's not always the tool i would go to.
