The idea of having an authority that makes decisions for those they have authority over, it's like a family. A king is the father of his subjects and is responsible for their well-being. I'm saying that only to try to make sense of why you would start with that kind of system. There's a reason why this structure exists and there's a way of defending it even if it doesn't hold up in the end.
