The Rise of Wine Rabbis
Wine rabbis were either actual rabbis profiting from prohibition laws, or people dressing up as traditional rabbis in order to make money selling wine. Catholics and other religions imbibed their wine during public services while Jewish people customarily drank their wine in the home. Thanks to the First Amendment, which says that we cannot discriminate on the basis of religion, Jews were entitled to 10 gallons of wine per adult per year.
