Gordon Brown grew up in a converted boat shed at the back of a theological college. His dad was training for the ministry and we were living in this tiny sort of two-room cottage. He realized that if you grow up with those words and that language running in the background, it sets you up with this idea that mundane secular reality is not all there is.
