Zebulun Pike Sr.

Zebulun Pike Sr. enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was just 15 years old. He served under General Anthony Wayne, a revolutionary war hero who Pike had served with a decade before. In 1794 his son Zebulun Jr. also enlisted and would follow in his father's footsteps as an officer. The two men worked together to win victory at the Battle of Fallen Timbers on November 4, 1794. It was here that word reached the frontier that the United States had not only purchased the port of New Orleans from the French, but the entire Louisiana territory too.
