In 510 BC, a humiliated Darius decided to lead a second colonial expedition in western Sicily. He proclaimed that he intended to reclaim the territory that had once belonged to Heracles and his descendants. After he had taken Eryx and established a new colony however, a combined force of Carthaginians and Segestans immediately defeated themOnce again in battle, this time killing Darius.
