The Canadian political class has this really tortured relationship with American political news. We just kind of assume that whatever happens in the United States is going to happen in Canada, even though we have two completely different political cultures. At the time, a lot of people didn't know this was going to be this week's long thing. A lot of people just assumed they'd get to Ottawa, they'd drive around, they'd make some noise.
