The Problem With Ideal Theory
In ideal theory, you have to be very concerned with the world sort of as it is rather than some background conceptions of how it should be. There are certain theorists who think that the goal here is to first specify an ideal and then think about how we can just lead transition from where we are now to the ideal. But the problem there, I think, is that like the idealizations that go into their reasoning lead them to some pretty problematic conclusions.
