The Gospel and Evangelicalism

When asking if Jesus preached the gospel, it is customary to show how Jesus' soteriology fits ours. We don't ask first does Jesus preach justification; we ask, does Jesus preach Jesus? I could go on. What I've just sketched seems so obvious now to me. Any good look at gospel in the New Testament will lead to these three texts and these three questions. Do you think 1 Corinthians tells us the gospel? Do you think the gospel sermons and acts really are the gospel? And do you think the gospels articulate the gospel?
