The Story You're Telling Yourself
The lens through which you see yourself is not infallible. Most fear comes from stories, technicolour, richly casted stories in your mind. The most panicious stories are the ones so ingrained that we cannot even conceive of the possibility they might be a fiction. Victor Frankel didn't tell himself stories about how he's more likely to face the gas chamber than the lecture hall. He told himself stories of publishing works that would positively alter the history of psychotherapy. You are not a victim if you don't want to be and you're a hero if you want to be.
