Google and Microsoft Open AI Launch Frontier Model Forum
Google and Microsoft have launched the Frontier Model Forum as a measure to ensure the safe and responsible development of Frontier AI models. There is a lot of skepticism around this from actual AI researchers because these companies basically tried to do something like this back in 2017, 2018. Emily Bender, a computational linguist at the University of Washington says it seems like an attempt to avoid regulation to assert the abilities to self regulate. She points out that that's kind of a distraction from the actual problems we have to do with data theft.
