The world is still figuring out AI candidly. We're getting a lot, lot better at it, especially in the last couple of years with things like Dolly and co-pilot. But it brings with it not only engineering challenges, but also, frankly, ethical challenges,. And if AI produces something that is offensive, who's at fault? You know, our stance on it, what we ended up coming to is actually the framing of co-p Pilot as an AI pair programmer - I think is a useful one.

Ryan is an experienced developer and product manager, with over a decade of experience working for Microsoft before moving to lead the GitHub product team. In today’s episode, he shares how Copilot got its start, how it moved from prototype to live product, and how he structures R&D teams within larger companies. He also discusses the ethical questions surrounding AI use and how to build a successful product team, and shares the inside story of the development of Copilot.
