The Importance of Grief
The book is dedicated to your son, Auden, born after a difficult struggle to conceive. In the novel, Mariel and her husband Ned also are having difficulties conceiving. I put in the book as a means of wrapping my head around this fear and taking it on but also as an extension of losses of pregnancies we encountered. Brooke and I did experience miscarriages on our route to conceiving our child but fortunately we haven't experienced the loss of a child.
